Data collection when you visit our website

If you use our website purely for information purposes, i.e. you do not register or otherwise provide us with your details, we will only collect the data that is sent from your browser to our server (so-called “server log files”). When you call up our website, we collect the following data that are technically required in order to display the website:

(ii) Data and time of access

(iii) Volume of data sent in bytes

(iv) Source/link that sent you to the site

Processing is carried out pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of our website. Data will not be passed on or used in any other way. However, we reserve the right to review the server log files at a subsequent date if there are concrete grounds to suspect illegal use.

Cookies

To make your visit to our website more attractive and allow the use of certain functions, we use so-called cookies on some pages. These are small text files that are placed on your device. Some of the cookies we use will be deleted again once your browser session ends, i.e. when you close your browser (so-called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your device and allow us or our partners (cookies from third-party providers) to recognise your browser again when you visit us again (persistent cookies). Where cookies are used, they collect and process certain user information such as browser and location data and IP address values on an individual basis. Persistent cookies are deleted automatically after a set period of time, which varies depending on the cookie.

Where personal data are processed by the individual cookies we implement, processing is carried out pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR for the purposes of our legitimate interest in the best possible functionality of our website and ensuring that your visit to our site is customer-friendly and effective.

We may work with advertising partners who help us make our Internet site more interesting for you. In this case, cookies from partners (cookies from third-party providers) are therefore also saved on your hard disk when you visit our website. If we work with any such advertising partners, the next few paragraphs will provide you with separate individual information about the use of such cookies and the extent to which information is collected.

Please note that you can adjust your browser settings so that you are notified when cookies are placed and you can decide on whether to accept cookies on an individual basis, only in certain cases or not at all. Every browser differs in the way it manages cookie settings. The Help menu of each browser explains how you can change your cookie settings. You can find these for your browser using the following links:

This data will be stored and used exclusively for the purpose of responding to your request or for establishing contact and the associated technical administration. The legal basis for processing data here is our legitimate interest in responding to your request pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR. If the purpose of making contact is to conclude a contract, the legal basis for data processing is also Art. 6 (1) (b) of the GDPR. Once your request has been processed, your data will be erased; this is the case if it can be inferred from the circumstances that the facts in question have been finally clarified and provided that there are no legal storage obligations to the contrary.

Use of social media: videos

Use of YouTube videos

This website uses the YouTube embedding function to display and play videos from the provider “YouTube”, owned by Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).

We use the privacy-enhanced mode that only saves user information when you play a video. When you play an embedded YouTube video, the provider “YouTube” places a cookie in order to collect information about user behaviour. According to “YouTube”, this information is used to record video statistics, improve user-friendliness and prevent incorrect use, amongst other things. If you are logged in to Google, your data will be associated directly with your account when you click on a video. If you do not want your profile to be linked with YouTube, please log out before clicking on Play. Google saves your data (even if you are not logged in) as a user profile and evaluates it. Such evaluation is permitted in particular pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR on the basis of Google’s legitimate interest in inserting personalised adverts, market research and/or designing its website to meet user demands. You are entitled to object to the creation of this user profile; please direct your concerns to YouTube.

Irrespective of whether the embedded video is played, a connection will be made to the “DoubleClick” Google network whenever you call up this website, which could trigger further data processing steps that are out of our control.

Google LLC, based in the USA, is certified pursuant to the EU/U.S. “Privacy Shield” data protection agreement, which ensures compliance with the level of data protection required in the EU.

You can find more information about data protection and “YouTube” in the provider’s data protection statement: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy

Online marketing

(a) Google AdSense

This website uses Google AdSense, a web analytics service from Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). Google AdSense uses so-called “DoubleClick DART cookies” (“cookies”). These are text files stored on your computer that allow analysis of your use of the website. When collecting information, Google AdSense also uses so-called “web beacons” (small transparent graphic images) that are used to record, collect and evaluate simple actions such as visitor traffic on a website. The information generated by the cookie and/or web beacon about your use of this website (including your IP address) is usually sent to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

Google uses this information to evaluate your user behaviour with regard to the AdSense ads. The IP address sent from your browser as part of Google AdSense is not collated with other data by Google. The information collected by Google may be transferred to a third party where this is required by law and/or a third party is processing this data on behalf of Google.

This data processing is carried out pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR for the purposes of targeted advertising to users by third-party advertisers, whose ads are displayed on the basis of the evaluated user behaviour on this website. At the same time, processing also serves our financial interest in making full use of the economic potential of our website by inserting personalised third-party advertising content in return for remuneration.

Google LLC, based in the USA, is certified pursuant to the EU/U.S. “Privacy Shield” data protection agreement, which ensures compliance with the level of data protection required in the EU.

You can find more information about Google’s data protection conditions at the following address: http://www.google.de/policies/privacy/

You can permanently deactivate cookies for ads by applying a corresponding setting in your browser software or downloading and installing the browser plug-in from the following link: http://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin?hl=de

Please note that if you deactivate cookies, this may limit certain functions of this website or they may not work at all.

(b) Use of Google AdWords conversion tracking

This website uses the “Google AdWords” online advertising program and conversion tracking within the framework of Google AdWords, provided by Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). We use Google Adwords to draw attention to our attractive services on external websites using advertising resources (so-called Google Adwords). We can use these to work out how successful individual advertising measures are in relation to the advertising campaign data. Our purpose here is to show you ads that are interesting for you, design our website to be more interesting to you and ensure fair billing of advertising costs.

The conversion tracking cookie is placed when a user clicks on an AdWords ad delivered by Google. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer system. These cookies generally become invalid after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If a user visits certain pages on this website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can tell that the user has clicked on the ad and been sent to this page. Every Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers. The information collected using the conversion cookies is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have selected conversion tracking. Customers find out the total number of users who have clicked on their ad and been sent to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that could be used to personally identify users. If you do not wish to be part of tracking, you can block this use by deactivating the Google conversion tracking cookie via the user settings for your Internet browser. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics. We use Google Adwords on the basis of our legitimate interest in targeted advertising pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR.

Web analytics services

Google (Universal) Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service from Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”; these are text files that are stored on your computer that allow analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website (including the shortened IP address) is usually sent to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

This website uses Google Analytics exclusively with the “anonymizeIp” extension, which ensures IP addresses are rendered anonymous by shortening them, excluding any direct link to an individual person. Google uses the extension to shorten your IP address in advance within Member States of the European Union or other contracting parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The full IP address is only sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there in exceptional cases. In such exceptional cases, processing is carried out pursuant to Art. 6 (1) f) of the GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest in the statistical analysis of user behaviour for optimisation and marketing purposes.

Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activities and to carry out further services for us relating to website and Internet use. The IP address sent from your browser as part of Google Analytics is not collated with other data by Google.

You can stop cookies being stored by applying a corresponding setting in your browser software; however, please note that this may mean you will be unable to use all the functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent the data relating to your use of the website that are generated by the cookie from being collected by Google (including your IP address) and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in from the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de

As an alternative to the browser plug-in or if you are using a browser on a mobile device, please click on the following link to place an opt-out cookie that will prevent Google Analytics collecting data within this website in future (this opt-out cookie only functions in this browser and only for this domain; if you delete your cookies in this browser, you will need to click this link again): deactivate Google Analytics.

Google LLC, based in the USA, is certified pursuant to the EU/U.S. “Privacy Shield” data protection agreement, which ensures compliance with the level of data protection required in the EU. You can find more information about user data handling by Google Analytics in Google’s data protection statement: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de

Tools/ Miscellaneous

Google web fonts

To ensure uniform font presentation, this site uses so-called web fonts provided by Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). When you call up a site, your browser loads the web fonts in its browser cache that are required to display texts and fonts correctly.

The browser you are using needs to establish a connection with the Google servers for this purpose. As a result, Google will be notified that our website was called up via your IP address. Google web fonts are used in order to ensure the uniform, attractive presentation of our online site. This is a legitimate interest in the sense of Art. 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR. If your browser does not support web fonts, your computer will use a standard font.

Google LLC, based in the USA, is certified pursuant to the EU/U.S. “Privacy Shield” data protection agreement, which ensures compliance with the level of data protection required in the EU.

You can find more information about Google web fonts at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in the Google data protection statement: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

(iii) Right to erasure pursuant to Art. 17 of the GDPR: you have the right to request the erasure of your personal data if the prerequisites of Art. 17 (1) of the GDPR are met. However, this right does not apply in particular if processing is necessary for exercising the right of freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims;

(iv) Right to restriction of processing pursuant to Art. 18 of the GDPR: you have the right to request the restriction of processing of your personal data if you have contested the accuracy of your personal data and this has been verified, if you oppose the erasure of your personal data and request the restriction of their use instead, if we no longer need your personal data for the purposes of the processing, but they are required by you for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or if you have objected to processing on the grounds of your own particular situation pending verification of whether our legitimate grounds override yours;

In the event of such withdrawal of consent, we will delete the affected data immediately unless further processing is permitted on the legal basis of processing that does not require consent. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

(viii) Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority pursuant to Art. 77 of the GDPR: If you believe that the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement, without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy.

(b) Right to object

Where we process your personal information on the basis of our prevailing legitimate interest as part of the balancing of interests, you have the right to object to this processing at any time with future effect for reasons relating to your own particular situation.

If you exercise this right to object, we will stop processing the affected data. However we reserve the right to continue processing your personal data if we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, fundamental rights and freedoms or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
