TANNER Vietnam is certified “Green Office” by WWF

Ms. Tabitha Carvan – WWF Coordinator awards TANNER Vietnam the Green Office certificate

The World Wide Fund for Nature Vietnam (WWF Vietnam) today has presented the WWF Green Office certificate to TANNER Vietnam for the successful implementation of an accredited environmental management plan in their workplace.

TANNER Vietnam, one of the leading companies for professional technical documentation, demonstrated their commitment to the environment by developing a staff-rewards program for the “greenest” employees.

Elmar Dutt, Managing Director of TANNER Vietnam, explained that the money saved by implementing environmentally friendly work practices is awarded to the staff members who earn the most “green” points by using sustainable transport, saving energy and reducing paper consumption.

“TANNER is really putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to being a Green Office”, Elmar Dutt said. “Now it’s not only the environment that benefits, it’s our staff, too.”

To be certified as a WWF Green Office, TANNER developed and implemented successful measures to reduce their consumption of electricity by 16 percent, their consumption of paper by 50 percent and their consumption of water by 12 percent. The number of staff using sustainable transport to commute to work rose to 21 percent.

The certificate presented in the TANNER office today “rewards the impressive dedication and innovation demonstrated by TANNER to reduce their impact on the environment”, Tabitha Carvan from WWF Vietnam stated.

TANNER is now the eighth certified WWF Green Office in the business and government sectors in Vietnam, and the first German Company certified the Green Office in Vietnam.

The WWF Green Office Programme, started by WWF Finland in 1997, helps companies and other organizations to make simple, practical changes to their office environment and to employee behaviour to help mitigate the effects of climate change.

WWF Vietnam hopes that other companies in Vietnam are motivated by the success of TANNER to join the Green Office Programme.

Current Green Office Vietnam members include the Finnish Embassy, the British Embassy and British Consulate-General, Conforama, OUT-2 Design and Toyota Motors Vietnam.
