TANNER Vietnam sets the pace to become a role model in sustainable corporate responsibility, joining the UN Global Compact initiative

TANNER Vietnam becomes a participant of the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate responsibility initiative with over 12,000 business and non-business participants from over 145 countries.

The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. By doing so, business, as a primary driver of globalization, can help ensure that markets, commerce, technology and finance advance in ways that benefit economies and societies everywhere.

The “Global Compact” initiative asks companies to embrace universal principles and to partner with the United Nations. “It has grown to become a critical platform for the United Nations to engage effectively with enlightened global business.” – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon states.

TANNER Vietnam is a part of a growing group of companies who provide vital support to drive the global corporate sustainability movement forward.

TANNER Vietnam is dedicated to implement and develop sustainably the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, and in supporting broader UN development goals beyond its company.

“To become a participant of the United Nations Global Compact Initiative is truly a big motivator for TANNER Vietnam and its employees to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive global economy. Successful, sustainable business is driven by our people and their dedication to corporate values. We strive to therefore become a role model for Small- and Medium Enterprises in Vietnam.” Elmar Dutt, Managing Director of TANNER Vietnam Ltd. states.

Being the 1st German corporation and the 8th corporation in Vietnam awarded the Green Office certificate by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Vietnam (WWF Vietnam) in August 2010, TANNER Vietnam has successfully implemented an accredited environmental and energy management plan in the workplace.

In 2013, TANNER Vietnam won “The Green Environment for the Country” award presented by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment due to sustainable activities that TANNER Vietnam has implemented to maintain its involvement to the global environmental protection and preservation as well as the community development.

By July 2013, TANNER Vietnam has taken effective measures to reduce the consumption of electricity and water by 12 percent compared with 2012 thanks to the green team of the company. TANNER has also designed and built a rooftop garden at their office building in Ho Chi Minh City’s Phu Nhuan District as an initiative to reduce their CO2 footprint and contribute to a healthy urban environment. The rooftop garden is a further commitment of TANNER saving energy and protecting the environment.
